Kid Stuff

Akumal Bay is home to a kids playground on Akumal Bay, but the long standing Kid's Club Program there is no longer in operation. There are many things to do for children, such as snorkeling, bubble maker or scuba diving lessons, fishing, ecology,  hair braiding, an outdoor basketball court and more.

The local Mayans love children. Often it is possible to arrange baby sitting in your own accommodation, by asking your property caretaker. There is also a babysitting service in Akumal. 

Families will love Akumal! There is an excellent turtle watch and release program from May through September in Akumal.

On January 6th each year, this non-profit organization, Akumal Toy Drive,  delivers toys to Mayan children in the small neighboring rural villages.
Gina Austin, the founder of the Akumal Toy Drive passed away in 2012, yet the toy drive is thriving with the help of other good souls in Akumal such as her husband Jorge Palma, the owner of Riviera Management,
