A villa is a home, almost always detached from any other units. They are typically larger, with multiple bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, at least one living area, full kitchen, outdoor facilities and the caretaker usually lives on site. They usually have maid service 6 days a week. Villas usually rent weekly, and often Saturday to Saturday. It is not common to find a villa on a swimming beach, but all are on the water with incredible views.
Condos usually have 2 to 8 units per building. Most condos will have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, a partial to full kitchen, a living area, and a patio or balcony with ocean or jungle views. They can be rented as one or more bedroom units, or in some units, the secondary bedrooms can be rented just as a hotel room by locking off one of the other bedrooms. These units will have a primary caretaker and cleaning/maintenance staff and are cleaned 6 days a week on average. The condominiums are usually on swimming or snorkeling beaches.
"Other" covers a broad category: casitas, bungalows, hotels, studio apartments and other odds and ends. These are usually smaller in square footage and do not have a full kitchen (some may not have any kitchen equipment). While hotels tend to be beachfront, some of these properties may be situated just off the beach, rather than directly on the beach. They typically offer a greater value when a lot of amenities are not necessary. Some of the hotels will be all inclusive, which means the price includes all meals, some drinks, many activities and possibly airport transportation.
