La Bahia #8 is on the 4th floor, this is a smaller one bedroom studio condo offering spectacular views and a sun filled stay. The ceiling fans and A/C will enhance the Caribbean breeze and tropical decor. The open bedroom has a queen bed. This is a perfect vacation choice for one or two people as it is private and intimate, with views which will help to make everlasting memories. Please note that internet is now available in this unit. This studio condo is much simpler than others in the building; so it has the bonus of being priced much lower for the traveler who is looking for no frills, but desires a well managed condo in a wonderful location, on a popular beach, with a spectacular view. It has just been updated, and now offers TV and a safe as well. There is A/C in the bedroom as well.
La Bahia is one of the most popular condominiums that Caribbean Fantasy represents. These beachfront condos offer unobstructed views of beautiful Half Moon Bay, and the pristine clear aqua marine water below. The master suite, furnished with a queen size bed, is separated from the living area with a bifold wooden door, which when left open, allows the free flow of the fresh Caribbean air, and a fabulous view of the beach. Each morning you are awakened by nature's alarm clock; the melodious singing of tropical birds out the jungle side window, and the soft lapping waves along the beach. Nothing may be more rewarding than sipping a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise from the spacious deck. The completely furnished full kitchen includes bottled water, pans, dishes, table accessories, a bar with stools and a dining table. Daily maid service allows you to be on our way to enjoy all the local beauty both above and below the water, while the unit is cleaned up, beds made, and dishes washed! While relaxing on the built in bodegas in the living room, you will find it difficult to concentrate on anything but the 180 degree view which greets you each day. Finally the balcony allows the morning rays in relative privacy, or use the hammock for a siesta. Join friends new and old in the beachfront courtyard arrange to have a local come in and prepare a wonderful Mayan meal. La Bahia is located in Akumal, which is in the yucatan Riviera Maya, on the Caribbean Coastline. It is just a short hour drive from the Cancun airport, but light years away from the crowds and fast pace of the city. The area is world renown for diving and snorkeling, as written up by many publications. The barrier reef along this coast, which protects Half Moon Bay, is rated as one of the seven underwater wonders of the world. From Half Moon Bay, the water is often so clear that sea life, such as turtles, can be seen from the building without even entering the water. Within walking distance of the condos is the famous Yalku Lagoon, which is often equated to swimming in an aquarium. Also, there are many wonderful small restaurants tucked around the Bay for our convenience. The common phrase here is 'No shoes required!' The Akumal area is both rustic and somewhat remote, with thatched roofed restaurants, lounges, dive shops, gift shops, coffee bars, and more. The arts are a focus as well, both local and international. The area offers a doctor, pharmacy, markets, library, ecological center, arts center, outdoor stage, police station, laundry, kids center and more. Come stay in paradise!
New in 2016, La Bahia now has a golf cart for rent for La Bahia guests. Rent the cart from the office and it is $40.00 US per day plus a damage deposit, refundable if the cart is returned with no damage.

La Bahia 8
The apartment is even better than we could have imagined. It is on the 4th floor overlooking Half Moon Bay. The water is so warm and there are plenty of sea turtles to watch. It's close to a popular snorkeling beach and there are restaurants nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Mercedes!!
This place is truly gorgeous, it's amazing to sit on the balcony and spot the little loggerhead turtles in the shore. If you don't have a car I would recommend hiring a bike, we did and it was definitely the way to go, walking to town is about 15mins but by bike about 5. The whole space is beautifully decorated and it was a real joy to be there. WiFi is a little unreliable but other than that it was perfect.
Fantastic location and a lovely place! We had access to everything we needed to enjoy a stay in Akumal: groceries, restaurants, rental gear, fully stocked kitchen. Mercedes was a very helpful host, quickly responding to any questions we had during the planning stages, right up to our arrival.
We had an incredible stay. We arrived after the office had closed, but there was someone waiting for us with a key who also helped bring up our luggage (very thankful after the flight/driving, not to mention the condo is on the top floor!). The place was perfect. Great views, lots of space and a full kitchen. The cleaning crew was very good, they even cleaned some dishes we had left out. We will be looking at this place again when we eventually come back to Akumal.
I've stayed nearby before, so I already knew that it was an outstanding location. You're distant from the congestion in central Akumal and have a short walk to a few nearby restaurants. The condo has plenty of space for two, with a great view of the entire bay. To get full enjoyment, you'll probably want the flexibility of having a rental car.
The only downside: in torrential rain, the roof leaks in a specific spot. This is not unusual, and it's easily remedied by putting down a few towels until the weather passes.
La Bahia is located on Half Moon Bay, Akumal which is primarily a snorkeling/diving community located about an hour and 1/2 south of Cancun and 25 minutes north of Tulum. The apartment is on the top floor which offers phenomenal views of the bay and surrounding landscape. The beach directly in front of the condo is usually empty, however, the water has rocks and coral so unless you have protective footwear it is hard to maneuver around and enjoy the beautiful water. WIth that being said, Akumal Bay, about a 15 minute walk down the road near the town center is great for seeing marine wildlife (turtles, eels, etc.) The walk to town can be tiresome and hot - its about a mile walk. We recommend renting a car if you are staying here. There are a few great eateries in the small town (Akumalito for breakfast is the best deal out there $5 for authentic Mexican omelettes). Tulum was one of the favorite parts of our trip - however- it is about a 20-25 min cab ride that costs $15-$20 USD. Again, a car would have been useful, but the taxi drivers are usually accommodating. There is also a Collectivo van that serves as a public bus route and stations along the main highway which only costs $5 per person. There is also a small lunch/dinner place right on the beach near the condo called Buena Vida which has good lunch/dinner food. We recommend snorkeling the Dos Ojo Cenote and seeing the Coba Ruins! The Cenotes near the Coba ruins are the best! We hired a private driver for a $100 USD to drive us to the ruins and Cenotes for the entire day and it worked out perfectly. The apartment did the trick and had a water dispenser and a great A/C unit in the bedroom. Overall, it was a wonderful trip!
This condo is awesome! Super centrally located to all that Akumal has to offer. The condo sits right in the middle of Half Moon Bay, which also offers some great snorkeling right off the beach. Way less crowded than Akumal Beach! La Lunuta restaurant and La Buena Vida are a 5 minute walk. Yal-Ku lagoon is about 3 minutes away by car, and Akumal beach (where the turtles are) is about 5 minutes by car tops! Staff at La Bahia is extremely helpful if you have any questions. I'd definitely love to come back here in the future. Such good memories!
We traveled to Akumal for the first time and absolutely loved the location. Horseshoe bay was great and this condo made life extremely easy. We went snorkeling and saw turtles, squid, fish, crabs, and sea urchins right outside of this unit. The beach was great and not over crowded. The condo is on the fourth level of stairs so the walk up and down can get a little tiring if you have any physical limitations. The unit was a tad outdated, but all of the amenities were provided. There was even a 5 gallon container of water that was provided in the unit. This unit is perfect for a little escape. My only wish was that there were better pillows - which is usually my complaint anywhere.

This was the perfect place to start our vacation in Mexico. The condo was on the top floor (4th) and right in the middle of Half Moon Bay. The view was amazing, and we could hear the waves all night long. The A/C works amazingly well and the hot water and wifi worked during our whole stay. We were able to walk to markets, have drinks at La Buena Vida, enjoy local cuisine, and swim in both the ocean and nearby cenotes. Truly the perfect start to an amazing vacation. There is so much to do right outside your door. The condo is a little dated but perfect for two people when your main goal is to be outside.

This condo is fantastic. It has an amazing view of Half Moon Bay, great decor, and a comfortable size for two people. The bed is rock hard and the condo gets quite warm during the afternoon, but otherwise this space is perfect size for two people
The apartment was just like in the pictures - on the beach, with a gorgeous view, colorful, well equipped and cosy. Only 2 pitfalls: during the 2 rainy days that we had, the roof was leaking, which was not a pleasant experience; also, the wireless connection is very weak, as the apartment is on the last floor of the building. Otherwise, everything was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay there and we recommend it to everyone who'd want to spend some moments of calmness and romance in Riviera Maya.
Very cute beachside studio right on the beach! The quaint town of Akumal had excellent seafood restaurants within walking distance. Great value in comparison to Tulum.
This was the perfect getaway! The condo was beautiful, Mercedes was very helpful and Marsial and others who run things on a day-to-day basis couldn't have been nicer.
Not to mention the view of the water, being able to walk down to the beach for a swim. We couldn't have asked for more.
Condo is situated right in the middle of the bay between two good restaurants. We also enjoyed the free daily housekeeping services.
The apartment was great. Not super fancy, but had everything you need to enjoy your time in Akumal... The views were amazing, accommodations were comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Location wise you're a short walk to La Lunita or Buena Vida for food/drinks. Mercedes was super helpful and helped us with a late arrival and answering all of our questions.
Easy to find location and even easier check-in process. The location was in the middle of two restaurants (walking distance) that were both good. Unfortunately, the entire coast from Playa through Tulum is being hit with a lot of seaweed on the beaches. If you are a diver like I am, this is an ideal spot to relax after a long day and a good central location with our without a vehicle.
We had a nice stay here.
This is a 4 story condo complex, with a front desk and maid service. The staff is friendly and helped us carry our luggage up and down.
The view from the porch is magnificent, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner works. (However the AC is located in the bedroom part of the apartment only, but it does cool off the whole apartment after a while)
You can go snorkeling in the half-moon bay, however be aware that there is fire coral, so be careful not to get too close to the coral.
Unfortunately the entire bay has seen an algae buildup, and it piles up on the beach. The property staff try to leave a clear path for people to walk into the water, but it definitely made it less pleasant, and made walking along the beach barefoot difficult.
There are only 2 shades available at the beach, so you are not guaranteed to have one of them unless you get down there pretty early.
If you are planning on checking-in early or checking-out late, I would recommend verifying that the Condo administration has been notified and that they have said its ok.
There were several things that I liked about this place:
1. The location is pretty central if you want to hit Akumal Bay, Half Moon Bay, and Yal Ku like we did.
2. The condo is very nice and you can't beat the view. Waking up every morning and looking out from the balcony onto the bright blue ocean is something I'll never forget.
3. Amenities were solid including air conditioning, kitchen, they provided water, there was cleaning staff, etc.
4. There is an office with really good hours if you need anything. We called a cab to take us to Akumal Bay when we departed since we had large bags and the heat was bad (see below).
The only things we didn't like were:
1. The walk from Akumal Bay to Half Moon Bay was actually was kind of unpleasant in the summer heat. This isn't Mercedes or anyone else's fault as the condo is where it is, but the condos all block the road that follows the coast and when it's 100 degrees out it feels like 200. A walk that looks easy on a map ends up being torture. I imagine the walk is quite pleasant when it isn't June (one of the hottest months).
2. We had a small tropical storm our last night in the condo. Some water leaked in through the ceiling. Not tons, but quite a bit. We also lost power for about 5 hours, which wasn't a big deal and not Mercedes or the people running the condos fault. I don't know how common this type of weather is for the yucatan. If it's not common then I get why the roof leaked; if it is common they should probably have the roof worked on.
Spacious, airy, great view. Loved being able to go down to the beach chairs and having the bay right there, though there is a lot of seaweed at the moment. AC worked intermittently but enough to keep the bedroom cool; sea breeze was enough for the rest of the apt. Kitchen is small but useable. Bed was soft enough for us. Shower has a nice view of the sunset over the inland forest. Wifi only works on or near the balcony but was reliable there. Three flight walk up was a little long after a day traveling with backpacks but we knew that going in.
Location, Location, Location. If you are planning a trip to the Mayan Riviera, want to stay away from the masses, enjoy a private bay with great snorkeling, a couple of terrific local restaurants (La Cueva and La Buena Vida) and you want to do this all on a budget, this is the way to do it. Place is just 15 minutes to Tulum and just 30 minutes to Playa del Carmen but everything feels even closer. It was central and easy to access.
The condo: 4th floor (The very top) so it has a wonderful view of the bay and out the back you can watch the sun set over the forest. Its nestled in the very center of Akumal bay just one cove over from the busier snorkel and bar scene. You can walk the beach and not bump into another person! Spacious, Air conditioning in the bedroom and great open floor plan. We were able to make coffee, sandwiches, lounge and feel like no one else in the world was there.
Bed is semi comfortable (not a hotel bed by any means). Cleaning service was impeccable, Mercedes was responsive although we didn't need anything.
You could walk to what you needed (grocery marts/restaurants) but having a rental car makes things so much easier.
We loved this place. Great location, great views and nice apartment. Very spacious and well laid out.
The apartment was great - exactly as pictured, bright and airy with an amazing ocean view. We were very comfortable there. We didn't have a hire car and this was fine - it was about a 20 min walk to Akumal centre, but with a local shop just across the road for basics and a great beach bar/restaurant just a few hundred metres away. Good snorkelling from either end of the beach outside, although during our stay the centre of the bay had lots of seaweed. Staff were very helpful, daily maid service was a bonus. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
We were welcomed by the staff at La Bahia. They showed us the room and all the amenities. Made sure that we were comfortable and where the local restaurants and grocery stores were. The condo was dated but mostly comfortable. The mattress is very hard, but we loved the location. We had a very relaxing time, I really recommend La Buena Vida restaurant and bar. Food and drinks were all very tasty and reasonable priced.
The place is exactly as pictured in the photos. The bay is beautiful, but you will need water shoes to swim in Half Moon Bay. The condo is in a great location, there are a lot of families and generally everything is winding down for the night after 10pm. The place down the road called La Buena Vida had some excellent tacos, that were a special Yucatan dish, and the drinks were cheap and delicious, you have to go there! Playa Akumal which is located just down the road was an awesome beach with plenty of snorkeling to be done. Bring your own beer and snacks and it's easy to spend the day at one of the most beautiful beaches on the Yucatan.
We definitely enjoyed out stay at Akumal #8!

It was perfect! Bright, open, airy, clean, fabulous views, everything we needed or could ever ask for! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.
A big thank you to the reservation dept in answering all my questions so quickly and for providing so much valuable information prior to our 14 nt stay.
We wish we were still there! Thank you.

The pictures of this little gem don't do it justice. Situated on a small bay this property is perfect for a romantic get away or even a family. If you get groceries on the way from the airport, you won't need a car here. There are a couple of nice restaurants within easy walking distance also. Would not recommend the top units for those with walking issues-- many stairs.
We plan to return!!

We arrived to La Bahia, (how I love this area) about 1 pm, they had
been expecting us for a 10 am check in and had everything in order for
us, including beach towels in the room for us. Thank you!
We found La
Bahia # 8 comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the bay and
the Caribbean waters from our deck. Could actually watch two turtles
playing in the surf. We loved it here as always. Things you may want
to know to is the unit needs a bit of work - new sheet, tiles etc, water pressure is poor(not a surprise), satellite tv not
working(but then we didn't want to watch tv). You know Mexico- they
have someone coming out to fix it the next day!!! La Bahia building
is starting to chip paint- needs a little work on the outside.
La Bahia # 8 is a budget
accommodation but wow the price is amazing and the view spectacular,
the deck is a wonderful place to sit with a drink and watch the waves,
turtles, the birds flying over head and just to unwind watching a non
The staff are great and one just needs to ask for help with the bags - Hint- take a small collapsible
cooler so you can take some frozen ice bottles down to the beach with
your drinks, climbing up and down the steps are not for everyone,
Arriving in Akumal, yes parking is crowded and they charge you 20
pesos to park right in the town. Yet once you head down to Half Moon
Bay it is quiet.
We had taken our own mask and snorkel and enjoyed the fish and turtles
in Half Moon Bay. One day we had not so many fish to see but loved
some of the beautiful purple coral. The next day was better viewing
in the water, but the winds high and the water ruff- enjoyed it but
not for a first time snorkeler.
I highly recommend Pescadora fro its grilled fish and oh the lime soup
is a meal in itself and delicious.
Lo Ha we enjoyed the dancers on Wednesday night!
The Pharmacy over in Akumal pueblo over the bridge across the highway
was nice to have. We picked up some food in the little market, in
Akumal as we did not plan on cooking much. One day we did stop in
the large market across from Puerta Aventuras just to w look and huge
selection of fresh fish mealst, cheeses etc. I needed some new aqua
shoes for Half Moon Bay-
looked several places and found the best price in the food market in
We had a couple of hours on the beautiful beaches in Puerta Morellis,
the town is typical Mexico and needs trash picked up etc. The beach
is amazing and a $35 dollar beach massage was exactly what I needed,
but we still had all our stuff including golf bags so did not stop for
Xpu Ha, we had fun finding the right turn and ended up going in
through the campground entrance- 30 pesos to park there- loved the
beach it is busy, found the least expensive and good Margaretta's
Tulum Ruins: Paid 30 pesos to park
and about a 30 minute leisurely walk along the tree shaded path to the
ruins. Stunning view over the water. Cost for a bus ride and tour
$60 per person- we did not do that. Take own water, sunglasses and hats, and bathing suit with a
towel to swim at the ruins.
It was really fun to be on vacation and we enjoyed every minute and
We of course did see the military police with their machine guns-
happy they are on patrol. They did walk down Half Moon Bay one
Easy Way Car rental picked us we drove over
to their site to do the paper work, all went smooth, we loved how
whatever amount of gas is in the car just return it with that much,
about 1/4 tank. Car did have ac and automatic as we had reserved.
Can't wait to stay in Akumal again - maybe longer next year?!
