Casa de Ensueno is a stunning semi-secluded villa in quiet Tankah Beach near Soliman Bay, rustic in feel. It has a dramatic and unique open air floor plan with a center palapa roof and a dramatic rock wall in the living area that drops right into the gorgeous outdoor pool! There are three private lockable air conditioned bedroom suites, all similar and very spacious. All suites have ocean/beach views. The two upstairs suites have simple mini kitchensand ceiling fans. Safes in all suites.
The rate has been generously reduced due to compensate for some very obvious cosmetic issues which need to be refurbished (lots of concrete stains, many missing pool tiles, rusted metal due to the sea salt, weathered palapas, etc.). Until these items are upgraded and fixed, guests staying at Casa de Ensueno will get a super value on a 3 bedroom beach villa if they are willing to turn a blind eye to these issues. We have just replaced the main palapa. (No work will take place while clients are present).
The spacious, Caribbean facing, fully equipped kitchen has a microwave and all the other appliances a guest will need. The architecture is awe inspiring. This villa comes with 2 single kayaks, enjoy exploring the bay! Casa de Ensueno can now be rented as a luxury one bedroom beach front home (low season only), with exclusive use of the pool, beach front area, kitchen, dining, and living areas. This is awesome for honeymooners or couples looking for the ultimate romantic getaway. The caretakers, live on the grounds in the casita, and will be there to greet you. The open air floor plan is unique and dramatic, but please note that due to the unique architecture, there are no walls separating the living room, kitchen, and dining room from the pool and beach - which is important to know, especially if you are traveling with small children. There is also weathered coral in the flooring both outside and in, so it can be uncomfortable for small children who are crawling, or deter them from getting to the open pool.
Meal preparation can be arranged with the on-site caretakers. They clean the house daily except Sundays, and can be available for other requests the guests may have. There is a large BBQ grill poolside for the guests to use (charcoal is not provided). There is wireless internet.
Enjoy the sound of the tranquil lapping waves as the broken coral tumbles onto the beach. Here you will find a semi-secluded snorkeling beach, cool ocean breeze and beautiful Caribbean views from every room in the villa. Take the kayak out for a scenic tour of the coral filled bay. Tankah Cenote is just a few lots away (a natural limestone sinkhole) and is a fabulous place to swim and snorkel, or even see the regional flora and fauna from a new perspective. It is rumored that Manatees have been seen entering Tankah Cenote from a hole in the bay (divers can use the route). Nearby in Tankah, there are some intimate restaurants, dive shops and hotels. Call for more information on this incredible property. There is nothing else in the area like Casa de Ensueno!
This home is one of the most unique on the Riviera Maya coast, perfect for those looking for an amazing deal. Its location is perfect, just north of the ruins and city of Tulum and south of the resort of Akumal. A delightful reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the growing Yucatan.
One of our favorites - the best value you will find!

Casa de Ensueno
ýGreat place for the priceý 4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2014 NEW We had an excellent time here. The reviews are correct that this was once an incredible home but it has aged and has some maintenance issues. Things like pool tiles missing, needs paint, deck roof parts missing, holes on beach chairs, and overall age - really all pretty typical stuff for the Caribbean that we see in most rentals. But everything worked fine. Pool was kept clean, windows had screens, house was pretty clean and kept up nice by the staff. In fact Armando was a great guy! Got us fresh fish, made us ceviche one night, picked us up beer at the store, called cabs for us, had bottled water, cleaned everyday, even raked the beach. The house itself was stunning in its day and still nice. We actually drove right past because we thought no way that was our place. Two story thatched roof over an open air living room (so cool) that opens to the pool and then on to the direct sea/ocean front private beach. Coral inlays all around, a coral wall, pool comes into the house, Mayan Art all around, 3 master suites with ac, plus a half bath. There are 4 lounge beach chairs, hammock, 2 kayaks, a full dinning table, and working wifi (bit slow and only in the kitchen but it did the job). The only real bummer was the hard beds. That is pretty common down there and we made it through but they are hard. We went with 3 couples which was perfect for this place. We all got our own suites with locking doors, balcony, ac, shower, etc. Then the living room is a nice common space which is all open air. The open air living room/kitchen did for sure make it more like camping vs a resort. This was fine with us. Made it more of a true beach experience. We did get some mosquitoes around dusk but that was it (I did leave Avon spray for you - do not use that nasty deet!). But I could see that some people would not like this. Like camping there are ants around, some bugs, gotta hide the food and trash from night critters, sand everywhere. But we loved it. Kids would like it if there are the outdoors, live on the beach type. But if the kids are wifi using, sit inside with phones/tablets, etc this is not for them at all. The beach was excellent. We say maybe 10 people the whole week. Water is super warm. The house sits in a cove protected but the coral break so the water is like calm and clear like a swimming pool. Almost no waves. There are fish around to snorkel a bit. Yes there are some rocks and sea grass getting in but just bring water shoes and you are all set. Non issue with shoes. Also once you got out to chest deep there were sandy spots to stand in. The coral and rocks actually made the water much more visually interesting than just sand. So just got with it! There is not much around to walk to but that was kinda nice. We did eat at Casa Cenote which had great fish tacos and margaritas (why get anything else). Blue Sky actually had some good pizza when you are sick of fish - but they had good fish also. There is also a really small store with ice cream and chips which came in handy. We actually only went to town twice since we did not want to leave. Town is nothing special really. It was about 15 bucks US each way which when split is not bad. Also 15 to the ruins. There is also a bus if you walk to the road for cheap. Normally i get a car but here it seemed nice not to deal with all that and we did see whities getting pulled over. We had the shuttle bus stop at walmart on the way to stock up first which was a great idea.
"Relaxing and Comfortable" The general condition of the house is in need of basic up-keep, but they are annoyances, not anything that will prevent you from enjoying the beauty of the pool and the area in which the house is located. Six of us rented the house for one week. Although the house needs some work, it's still a great vacation spot. The pool overlooking the ocean could not be better. Others walked the beach and looked envious of our pool. The location is great--walking distance to restaurants, diving shop, and a cool cenote. The main living area of the home is not protected from the outdoors, so critters may easily find their way in. That means when you go to bed each night, everything needs to be put away. It also means that bugs, spiders, crabs, etc., can stroll on in at their leisure. We had a swarm of dragon flies, a hermit crab, lizards, and lots of other little exciting creatures visited us. All this added to the excitement of the trip. The three bedrooms are as shown. The two upper bedrooms have beautiful decks with a view that is unmatched, but again, the decks show some wear. If you are a perfectionist, this might not be the best choice of a home to rent. If you can overlook a few things, you will not find a better vacation home. I would highly recommend this home to some friends, but others I would not. It completely depends on the type of person you are!
We found this home online at a considerable discount compared to homes of similar size and quite frankly, we were expecting to find it in worse shape than advertised. Imagine our surprise to find the opposite when we arrived! The giant palapa living area brings the pool directly into the living space! The bedrooms are air conditioned for those averse to a little humidity during the night. The truly Eden like garden which seamlessly integrates pool to playa was my favorite part of the house. And of course, the wonderful staff, Armando and Mariela catered to our every whim arranging in house massages, cooking us our favorite Snapper tikin xic and bringing cocos frios to the playa in the heat of the day. They are true gems and I hope they stay with the house forever! You have a feeling of real isolation while having the lovely Blue Sky Inn just down the beach for great seafood and wood fired pizza with arcinio and Jorge. Also, Visit Tulum playa while you are here for fabulous farm to table food at any number of great restaurants, our favorite was Posada Margherita for the best fish in our 15 years of traveling to Riviera Maya. To put it plainly, we started planning our next trip on the drive to the airport. Book it now before the price goes up!!! Pro: Idylic beach setting and open air configuration, Con: Refridgerator and freezer could have been colder, Summary: I probably would recommend this accommodation to my best friend!
In the end it was still too good for us. Truly fabulous. Karl is now completely spoiled. It was sublime. I want to tell you in person how beautiful we found your house, our first time living in a villa. All of the art and craft decorating the walls, the floors, the beds, the linens, the kitchen, the balconies, the pool that begins in the living room, the constant roar of the surf at the reef, the endless swimming and discoveries in the sea extending before us... Mariela and Armando are obviously the best-- truly caring but discreetly working behind the scenes to maintain the look and feel of luxury accomodations without intrusion. I should really tell you all we did, and ate, and are dreaming of doing the next time now that we know of Casa de Ensueno!
Casa de Ensueno is a perfect place for a small wedding on the beach! We had guests stay with us the weekend of the ceremony, then had the place to ourselves for the honeymoon, and it was so beautiful, peaceful, and private. The caretakers were great, snorkeling was awesome out on the reef, and we really enjoyed meals and drinks at the two restaurants nearby. It was wonderful to have the pool and the beach right there, literally in your living room. Caribbean Fantasy, we want to go back!
We had a fantastic time at Casa de Ensueno. We visited late September into early October. We had perfect weather!! It provided lots of privacy and yet there were a couple places to eat in walking distance and the towns Akumal and Tulum were nearby if you wanted to drive to a bigger town. The hosts were more than helpful and sweet, they did more than we expected, combing out the beach every morning and making sure all of our linens were clean with fresh beach towels everyday. The kitchen was fully equiped so we were able to cook a lot and just enjoy. We felt like we never really had to leave. The pool was beautiful, stunning views from every room, kayaks available for everyday use, lots of things to see (fish, rays, coral,...) in the water just out in front of the house. The only thing that was not so pleasant was the slippery tile in the kitchen and living area. Since we were in and out of the pool/ocean all day, the tile was wet (there were warnings about this) but I slipped and sprained my ankle horribly :(, so be VERY careful on the tile! Put towels down if you have to. But this just meant I had to sit and sunbathe more and enjoy some more frozen margaritas. I recommend this place and would love to return!!
I just wanted to let you know that we had a SPECTACULAR time at Casa de Ensueno!!! The house was spacious and well cared-for. Gaspar and Gabina and their son Reyes were a real delight& Most of us had a language barrier, but my wife Amy could converse with them and they were very very nice people. Reyes was adorable!!! Gaspar even went out into the ocean and HARPOONED us a dinner!!! Then they prepared it for us!!! Of course, we compensated them handsomely. The beach is beautiful, gentle surf. All-in-all a perfect vacation. I would wholeheartedly recommend that place to ANYONE!!! Tankah seemed a bit nicer and more solitary than Soliman. Thanks! Vacation well-done!!!
