One of the outstanding features of Casa Sombra are the white, sandy beaches. They are perfect for that early morning walk or that leisurely stroll in the evening. You have easy access into the ocean for swimming and snorkeling. The blue waters of the ocean my be enjoyed in many ways: snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, fishing, or boating. The waters in front of the house are protected and you cannot fish there, but there are many boats for hire in the area. Nearby dive shops can help with relaxing drift dives or adventurous cave and cenote diving. Several shops in the area rent scuba and snorkeling equipment. There are 4 dive shops within 4 miles of the house. The beach can be anything that you want it to be. Imagine relaxing under the palm tree with a cool drink and a good book. Imagine your children building sand castles to their heart's content. Imagine.......... Dino and Artemia are the energetic Mayan caretakers for Casa Sombra. While you are there, you should have them cook just for you. For a fee, you can have them prepare two meals a day, or just an occasional meal. This is a wonderful experience. They can prepare Mexican, Mayan, and American food. A large concrete grill located on the beach can be used to grill lobster, steak or any meat that you provide. If you desire, they can help you with your shopping. Dino and Artemia speak Spanish and Mayan, and understand some English. Most people who stay here, report that this couple made their trip fantastic.
Casa Sombra is a 1800 square foot private home with three ocean view bedrooms and three baths. Each of the two upstairs bedroom has it's own balcony from which the ocean view can be seen. All rooms have ceiling fans and the master bedroom has an air-conditioner. Try sleeping with the ocean breeze on your face and the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep! The fully equipped kitchen has been enlarged to make it more pleasing. From the kitchen, you can view the tropical garden and the breath taking ocean view. A large glass dining table in the dining room, a patio table on the enlarged tiled patio and the bar are available for your dining pleasure.
The casita is located behind the casa. This one bedroom, 800 square foot home has a lovely garden view. A large fully equipped kitchen makes entertaining an enjoyable event. The casita's private deck has an aviary with colorful tropical birds. The casita can be rented separately or as a unit for a discounted price. There are to many things to see and do in this area. Some interesting adventures while you are in the Yucatan may be to visit the cenotes and lagoons. Yalku Lagoon is located in North Akumal and Xel-Ha Park is only a few minutes from the house. Xcaret is a large ecological park that is located less than 45 minutes away. The area is also well known for it's Mayan ruins. Tulum is just 15 minutes away and it is the largest Mayan ruin located on the coast. Coba and Chitzen Itza are several hours away.
