Easy to find location and even easier check-in process. The location was in the middle of two restaurants (walking distance) that were both good. Unfortunately, the entire coast from Playa through Tulum is being hit with a lot of seaweed on the beaches. If you are a diver like I am, this is an ideal spot to relax after a long day and a good central location with our without a vehicle.

We had a nice stay here. This is a 4 story condo complex, with a front desk and maid service. The staff is friendly and helped us carry our luggage up and down. The view from the porch is magnificent, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner works. (However the AC is located in the bedroom part of the apartment only, but it does cool off the whole apartment after a while) You can go snorkeling in the half-moon bay, however be aware that there is fire coral, so be careful not to get too close to the coral. Unfortunately the entire bay has seen an algae buildup, and it piles up on the beach. The property staff try to leave a clear path for people to walk into the water, but it definitely made it less pleasant, and made walking along the beach barefoot difficult. There are only 2 shades available at the beach, so you are not guaranteed to have one of them unless you get down there pretty early. If you are planning on checking-in early or checking-out late, I would recommend verifying that the Condo administration has been notified and that they have said its ok.

There were several things that I liked about this place: 1. The location is pretty central if you want to hit Akumal Bay, Half Moon Bay, and Yal Ku like we did. 2. The condo is very nice and you can't beat the view. Waking up every morning and looking out from the balcony onto the bright blue ocean is something I'll never forget. 3. Amenities were solid including air conditioning, kitchen, they provided water, there was cleaning staff, etc. 4. There is an office with really good hours if you need anything. We called a cab to take us to Akumal Bay when we departed since we had large bags and the heat was bad (see below). The only things we didn't like were: 1. The walk from Akumal Bay to Half Moon Bay was actually was kind of unpleasant in the summer heat. This isn't Mercedes or anyone else's fault as the condo is where it is, but the condos all block the road that follows the coast and when it's 100 degrees out it feels like 200. A walk that looks easy on a map ends up being torture. I imagine the walk is quite pleasant when it isn't June (one of the hottest months). 2. We had a small tropical storm our last night in the condo. Some water leaked in through the ceiling. Not tons, but quite a bit. We also lost power for about 5 hours, which wasn't a big deal and not Mercedes or the people running the condos fault. I don't know how common this type of weather is for the yucatan. If it's not common then I get why the roof leaked; if it is common they should probably have the roof worked on.

Spacious, airy, great view. Loved being able to go down to the beach chairs and having the bay right there, though there is a lot of seaweed at the moment. AC worked intermittently but enough to keep the bedroom cool; sea breeze was enough for the rest of the apt. Kitchen is small but useable. Bed was soft enough for us. Shower has a nice view of the sunset over the inland forest. Wifi only works on or near the balcony but was reliable there. Three flight walk up was a little long after a day traveling with backpacks but we knew that going in.

Location, Location, Location. If you are planning a trip to the Mayan Riviera, want to stay away from the masses, enjoy a private bay with great snorkeling, a couple of terrific local restaurants (La Cueva and La Buena Vida) and you want to do this all on a budget, this is the way to do it. Place is just 15 minutes to Tulum and just 30 minutes to Playa del Carmen but everything feels even closer. It was central and easy to access. The condo: 4th floor (The very top) so it has a wonderful view of the bay and out the back you can watch the sun set over the forest. Its nestled in the very center of Akumal bay just one cove over from the busier snorkel and bar scene. You can walk the beach and not bump into another person! Spacious, Air conditioning in the bedroom and great open floor plan. We were able to make coffee, sandwiches, lounge and feel like no one else in the world was there. Bed is semi comfortable (not a hotel bed by any means). Cleaning service was impeccable, Mercedes was responsive although we didn't need anything. You could walk to what you needed (grocery marts/restaurants) but having a rental car makes things so much easier.
