Akumal is a safe ecologically sound area. La Bahia is squarely in the middle of this paradise. The staff take great care to make your stay perfect. We had a tropical storm while I was there and staff came to my unit at midnight to make sure I was okay! They were like family. I would without hesitation return to this facility. The area is great AND don't forget to go across the hi way to eat in the pueblo and support the community.

Casa de Ensueno

Excellent location, layout and personnel This house is totally open to the sea, i.e. without any interior wall/doors facing the private outdoor pool and beach. This gives a sense of openness that we have not experienced in other villas in the Tulum area. The three oversized bedrooms all have king size beds and their own bathrooms. Service from housekeepers Armando and Manuela was kind and heartwarming - we asked them also to cook one dinner for us and to wash our clothes before moving to a resort for the following week. They were very thorough in cleaning the place, keeping the pool sparkling clean and removing daily the sargassum seaweed from the beach. Jumping out of the pool and into the sea just ten steps away was great. All about this place makes it desirable and just right for relaxation. The first 10-20 yards into the water are rocky, so reef shoes are very handy if not necessary. There is a kayak available on the premises (not in pristine shape). At a walking distance from the house there are two small hotels and a family-run cenote. We tried the restaurant of the closest hotel but service and overall ambient were disappointing - much better to ask Armando to cook! The cenote is unassuming with its often crowded parking lot but it is worth the 120-200 pesos fee to snorkel in it as one meanders among mangroves and enjoyes a close encounter with the single juvenile (1-2 year old) morelet crocodile who lingers among the mangroves. We recommend it. We also recommend a full day trip to Xel-Ha and ignore instead Xcaret - grossly overcrowded and "more Disney than Disneyland". Xel-Ha maintains more its original character although who visited last 20 years ago should be ready for a big commercial-oriented change.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise. Everything was perfect, we had a memorable stay. The place is quiet, the beach wonderful, I was lucky enough to swim with a turtle, two lovely restaurants nearby Le Lunita and Buana vista. The team is welcoming and helpful. Thank you, I hope to have the chance to see again this corner of paradise.
