Yalku Lagoon
Distance from Akumal: In North Akumal, just north west of Half Moon Bay

Yalku Lagoon is one of the most popular destinations in Akumal. This Caribbean inlet is filled with underwater sealife, every nook has something new and colorful to offer. It is like snorkeling/diving in an aquarium.

There is a small entrance fee to the Lagoon, with parking, paths and bathrooms. Sturdy footwear and towels are a nice thing to have here, as there is not a beach entrance, just limestone terraces.

Dolphin Discovery
Distance from Akumal: ~15km to the North in Puerto Aventuras

Swim with the dolphins for a once in a life time experience! Learn about their habits, pet them, get kissed by them and do tricks together. Also, nearby int eh same marina, their is a Sea Life Discovery that offers similar experiences with Manatees and Ra

Dolphin Discovery is in Puerto Aventuras, Cancun & Cozumel. It is also possible to swim with Dolphins at Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Reservations are recommended.

Xcaret Ecological Park
Distance from Akumal: ~ 30km North of Akumal

Xcaret is an incredible Eco-Archaelogical Park. There are Underground Rivers, Snorkeling, Horses, Aquariums, a Museum, an Aviary,a Butterfly Pavillion, an incredible night show, and much much more.

Chichen Itza
Distance from Akumal: ~ 3 hour drive

This post-classical period ruin is one of the finest Mayan archealogical sites. Early morning is the best and least crowded time to visit, and make sure to see their evening sound and light show.

There are many places to find information on this ruin, which will enhance your visit. A local guide can also be hired to add information and interesting stories to your visit.

Tres Rios Tropical Reserve
Distance from Akumal: ~ 45km North of Akumal

Tres Rios is a new eco park boasting 3 rivers, a beach & a restaurant. Kayak, canoe and swim down the rivers. Take a bike ride or horse back ride through the jungle.

Snorkeling, diving and reef tours are available, but at an extra cost.

Ana y Joses Restaurant & Beach
Distance from Akumal: ~32 km South of Akumal

Ana y Jose's is a local sand floor restaurant on an incredible swimming beach. Spend a relaxing day here and touring the Sian Ka'an Biosphere.

Lol Ha Cultural Program
Distance from Akumal: On Akumal Bay

The elegant (for Akumal!)restaurant of Lol Ha offers Mexican Folkloric Dancing Shows. See and hear the beautiful dancing, costumes, music and footsteps of these talented dancers.

Check the restaurant for the currents schedule, as this program is only offered a few times a week. Lol Ha is located on the beach at Akumal Bay, to the right of the arch. Also enjoy their beautiful veranda and exceptional cuisine.

Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay is a wonderful place to snorkel with the turtles, rays, tropical fish and coral stags. Or, to start your day right, wake up early for a stunning sunrise. There are a few local restaurants on this beach where you can dig your feet in the sand

At any time, paradise can be found just sitting under a palapa umbrella with a good book.

Akumal Bay
