If you are visiting Akumal, then this apartment should be your first choice! We have just returned from 6 nights there. The place had lots of space for 5 of us. There are two large double bedrooms with beautiful bedding; the fifth person slept in the lounge area on a large daybed. Two bathrooms came in really useful too with two teenage daughters! The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils you need for self catering. The real show-stealer is the balcony- it is enormous, with the most beautiful panoramic view of the sea. Given the problems with seaweed on the beaches- do consider this if you are travelling to the Tulum/Akumal area- we enjoyed time on the balcony and around the pool , more than we intended. The apartment is brilliantly located for everything, we didn't have a car and we got around easily by collectivo and taxis. The staff at the condos are really helpful and Carribbean Fantasy who manage the property are really attentive prior to the visit-providing all the necessary information. I think the only thing to be aware of is that outside the apartment is a rocky seashore. To access the two bay beaches close by is getting tricky in the area- with restrictions abounding, due to turtle 'protection.' To get to the beaches you have to walk around the rocky seashore as there is no obvious access from the beach road. This is a bit tricky as the rocks are sharp and it is a fair way. All the beaches in the area are blighted by seaweed; check out the webcam on Akumal Bay beach https://www.locogringo.com/akumal-beach-webcam, this will give you an up to date idea of the situation. You have to pay to access this beach 100 Pesos a person, the beach is cleaned daily to eliminate some of the seaweed though as you can see from the webcam this is a, 'King Canute,' situation as the stuff just keeps on coming. Half Moon Beach, (the other close beach to the apartment,) is a public beach and is not being cleared of seaweed at all; therefore all along the beach there are 3ft piles of rotting seaweed which is accumulating all the time- it is pretty disgusting! Only at the North end of the beach, can you swim/snorkle without negotiating the seaweed. Locals say they haven't seen the seaweed for 4 years and that this year is the worst ever- we could certainly see the impact on tourism. So whilst wholeheartedly recommending the apartment- do check the seaweed situation if it would adversely affect your stay. We had a lovely 6 nights at Mi Casa Del Mar. The apartment was a real treat, with one of the best views in the area- we spent most of our time on the balcony, when we weren't exploring. Thanks for all the great information prior to checking in- the restaurant recommendations were particularly helpful and reliable.

Just completed a 5 day stay with my family. The directions and information provided at the time of our booking were accurate and helpful. The condition of the property was pristine. Everything looked brand new and was very clean. In fact, Im not even sure that some of the appliances had even been used yet. The decor was very modern and tasteful and there were ample supplies, amenities and utensils. Every room has huge floor to ceiling windows with amazing views. The owners provided snorkeling and kayak equipment, which came in very handy. The maid service was discreet and thorough, and we always had fresh towels and plenty of purified water. The internet and cable worked fine. We spent some time driving around Akumal looking for potential future lodging (or a potential investment), but we honestly could not find anything that we liked better than Nahil. It is superb by any standard, especially by what you would expect to find in Mexico. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the location of Nahil on the north end of the bay allows it to escape much of the sargassum that covers the rest of the Akumal beaches. Since the prevailing current travels north to south, the grass all tends to gather in the Southern curve of the bay. We had very little problems with it at the condo, but it was piled up, literally, 3-4 feet high just a couple hundred yards down the beach. The snorkeling right out the back door was amazing. We saw turtles, rays, octopus, eels, lobsters and dozens of species of fish. In addition, we were no more than a 10-15 minute drive from cenote/caves and jungle excursions, ruins, zip lines...you name it. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in this area!

Enjoyed the beautiful home and Mexican hospitality. Uziel and Irene are great. Loved Irene's cooking. Don't miss the great snorkeling in the ocean behind you. An amazing Villa to spend an unforgettable vacation with the family!

My husband and I had a lovely time in this beautiful condo over the sea. The view is fantastic, and we loved riding the provided bikes into town every day in search of the area's best tacos. We also loved walking north along the shore to Yal Ku lagoon, and snorkeling in half moon bay. Everything was clean, and our hosts did a great job making us feel like we were right at home. One minor "hiccup" was a power outage on one of the days, but our hosts did a great job making sure we were fine and seeing if there was anything they could do to help.
